I found this on pinterest and though it was so lovely! I love variety in type, and I love that this piece is so interesting to look at. Everything is done well and neatly, but it still feels so crafty and handmade. The layers are just too cool. :) Very well done!!

Another cool tutorial here, but not mine! Check out this blog for the full piece. The idea is that you can print out a photo and actually transfer it to a canvas. It's lovely and it has a really cool vintage/antique feel. I can't wait to try it out this summer!

I have see SO many interesting ways to use chalkboard lately. One of my favorites is this wall calendar. It's so much fun, and you can doodle away on your walls when you're board! It's also inexpensive and so easy to make your own paint in any colour you want. Mix 2 Tablespoons of unsanded tile grout with one cup of flat latex paint in any colour you choose. Make sure you dissolve all the clumps. Paint your surface, preferably with a roller, probably about 3 coats. When it's dry, sand it with 150 grit sandpaper. Some say that to condition it, you should run your chalk completely over the entire surface and wipe clean. Have fun!!!

In 2009 Artist Gordon Young was hired to redesign the Crawley Library in England. He created 14 oak columns with craved letters and book passages. Gordon Young called these his typographic trees. Absolutely beautiful pieces.
